Legislative Committee Purpose Statement

Acting as part of the Northeast PA Manufacturers & Employers Association, the Legislative Committee is committed to reviewing and supporting issues that promote a positive, proactive business environment and to developing plans and creating opportunities for the members of the Association to directly interact with their respective elected officials at all levels of government. The Association firmly believes that laws and regulations should serve the public without acting as a detriment to business development and growth.

Our purpose is to work with our elected officials to establish regulations and policies that positively will affect the ability of a business to compete in the worldwide economy and continue to generate income and livable wage jobs that will help to improve the quality of life for all of Northeast Pennsylvania. The issues examined through our Legislative Policy agenda are issues raised by the Association's Legislative Committee and the Association's Board of Directors.

Legislative Committee Objectives

  • Work with the Pennsylvania Manufacturers Association and the National Association of Manufacturers to review state and federal issues that affect business.
  • Build and influence relationships/partnerships with state and federal legislators.
  • Promote discussion between the membership and legislators through planned events, including Legislative Roundtables and lunch with our Congressmen.
  • Create understanding amongst the membership as to the value of communicating with legislators via e-mail and formal correspondence.
